Whether I’m traveling in the US or internationally, finding a hotel is always one the best parts of planning the trip. Though it’s easy to book a room at a cookie cutter chain hotel, I love finding chic boutique hotels. Whether it’s stunning views, architectural details or unexpected accessories in the room, these hotels are luxuriously designed and of course, provide me with tons of design inspiration.
If you’re trying to decide where to go to on your next travel adventure or you’re looking for inspiration on your latest design project, today’s post should give you some great ideas.
Hotel Emiliano Rio de Janeiro
Named as one of the 2017 Best of Year Winner for Foreign Boutique Hotels by Interior Design Magazine, Hotel Emiliano in Rio de Janeiro is a blend of modern design and understated elegance. The magnificent views from the oceanview pool and spa and prime location on the famous Copacabana beach make it the ultimate relaxation spot!
The Broadview Hotel – Toronto
Because of my architectural background, I love exploring old, restored buildings. It’s exciting to see how they give new life to the space and The Broadview Hotel is a fabulous example. They didn’t miss a detail in their design and did an amazing job blending the history of the building with modern amenities. The warm, luxurious tones and chic accessories in the room make you feel right at home! (Plus, I absolutely LOVE the unexpected pop of floral wallpaper in their guestrooms!)
Kimpton Hotel – San Diego
Just minutes away from everything, the Kimpton Hotel Palomar San Diego is the perfect place to relax with your family. The modern design and blue and gray hues provide a very relaxing atmosphere. I can totally see Michael and I coming back here to enjoy a cocktail by the pool after a busy day exploring the city with our girls.
But I may be a little biased towards the Kimpton brand though. My favorite place to stay during High Point Market is the Kimpton Cardinal Hotel in Winston-Salem, North Carolina…so it doesn’t surprise me that I fell in love with their San Diego hotel!
Generator Hostel Rome
As one of the most influential cities in history, Rome is a must-visit destination for every art, history, and architecture lover. But with so much to see and do in the “Eternal City”, selecting a central location that makes it easy to get places is key. Generator Hostel Rome is just around the corner from the best local cafes and has a fabulous bar inspired by old Havana. Drinks, anyone?
Each of these hotels beautifully blends unique design elements with amenities that will make you feel right at home even when you’re traveling. Now that I’ve shared a few hotels I love, I want to hear about yours! Let me know in the comments below what your favorite hotel is and where it’s located.
