Aspen will always have a special place in my heart. It’s where my brother lives, it’s where I used live, and it’s where we used to have a Laura U office. I love Aspen and go every year. There is something about the mountains that really shifts your perspective.
It could be because no matter what season it is, Aspen is gorgeous! Of course, it’s magical in the winter, but there’s nothing like summer time in the city. From the festivals to the old-fashioned 4th of July Parade, there are tons of summer time activities in Aspen.
This year I have the chance to experience some of my favorite Aspen summer events in a different way. I’ll be hosting! These events will celebrate the loveliness of Aspen in July at some of my favorite hot spots.
So as I countdown the days until we travel there, I wanted to share my seven favorite things to do in the summer in Aspen.
1. FOOD & WINE Classic in Aspen
The FOOD & WINE Classic in Aspen is the most exclusive culinary event in the country. For three days, guests take in the gorgeous Aspen scenery while indulging in gourmet bites, incredible wines, and small batch liquors. Learn from food and wine experts during live tastings or simply sip and stroll. It’s a star studded weekend that delights all the senses. It’s one thing you absolutely must do when you’re in Aspen – even if you do it just once!
This year I’m thrilled to be a presenting sponsor for a special kick-off party at the Theatre Aspen. For this exclusive event, guests will be treated to chef-inspired delights from three restaurants, as well as impressive sips from the exquisite Louis XIII.
2. Wild Feast
Taking in the breathtaking scenery is always something you can do in Aspen. But it’s easy to take the natural beauty for granted. If it weren’t for the dedication of the members of the Wilderness Workshop, it wouldn’t be as preserved as it is today.
The Wild Feast benefits this important organization. Guests hear from an environmental leader before enjoying cocktail hour and music. Afterwards, guests are served a three-course seasonally inspired dinner prepared by Chef Miles Angelo from the Caribou Club.
3. Heritage Fire
Located in the Snowmass Base Village, Heritage Fire showcases traditional outdoor cooking techniques. More than 50 chefs come together to roast more than 3,500 pounds of meat. These delicious dishes paired with wine, beer, and spirits from across the globe make for an amazing culinary journey. This live grilling event is a one-of-a-kind activity that you can only experience in Aspen.
4. July 4th Parade
The 4th of July Parade in Aspen is one summer event everyone must do. It’s a day long party featuring a parade, concerts, and a bicycle rodeo. There’s something for everyone. But as much as I love the festivities, the hustle and bustle can be overwhelming.
This year I’m excited to partner with Isberian Rug Company to offer a parade respite suite. I’m designing a beautiful space for guests to relax and enjoy a glass of rosé during the parade. Isberian Rug Company has been serving the Aspen community for more than 51 years. Having partnered with Isberian in the past, I know this is going to be the perfect space for guests to experience a moment of relief from the festivities.
5. The St. Regis Aspen
Nothing makes me feel more at home when I’m traveling than having a luxurious hotel to retire to at the end of the day. The St. Regis Aspen offers incredible accommodations and stunning views. From tea by the pool to night caps at the lounge, there’s activities for the whole family. One thing I always do when I’m in Aspen is schedule myself some time to escape to their spa. Voted #1 Spa in the World by Travel + Leisure, it’s the ideal spot to indulge and relax.
While you’re at The St. Regis, I recommend making dinner reservations at the Aspen Chefs Club. This revolutionary, fine-dining restaurant hosts visiting chefs for several months where they’re invited to share their culinary vision with guests. It’s a unique culinary experience that I love doing in when I’m in Aspen.
6. The W Hotel
One of the things I love most about Aspen is the scenery. And I couldn’t think of a better way to take it all in than on top of the brand new W Hotel. Y’all, I’m so excited to be hosting a rooftop party at the W Aspen to celebrate its opening! With its fabulous views and chic urban style, it’s the perfect backdrop for my summer soiree.
7. ArtCrush
ArtCrush, hosted by the Aspen Art Museum, is an event held every summer. It features a wine tasting, seated dinner, and a live and silent auction of contemporary art to benefit the museum. If you’re looking to add to your art collection, this is one thing you don’t want to miss going to when you’re in Aspen. It’s a fabulous opportunity to take in the Aspen art scene and find that perfect piece that speaks to you.
