For today’s project reveal, we are taking a trip back to 2014. I know that a design from 4 years ago may seem a bit dated, but I can assure you, this home is anything but stuck in the past. The romantic design with modern details is the perfect representation of this sophisticated couple. A large piece of art by Angela Fraleigh in the formal living room inspired the neutral colors and soft purple hues we used throughout their home.
Pops of deep, vibrant colors like the bold blue lounge chairs we used in the office and the bursts of orange in the living keep the interior feeling fresh and a little playful. A purple lacquered office and textured wallpaper in the master bedroom were a few of the fabulous, unique wall coverings we incorporated into the design. So let’s take a peek at how we transformed the house into a bright, family-friendly, contemporary home.
The Reveal.
Riffing off of the gorgeous color palette in the artwork, we pulled in deep aubergine fabric on the tete-a-tete pillows. The metal framed side chairs are by Bolier and this is one of my favorite chair silhouettes of all time.
Have I ever mentioned that I have a serious chair addiction? Michael can’t seem to keep me from stockpiling chairs so I am glad I got my fix on this project. The contemporary take on the wingback chairs in the windows is courtesy, Julian Chichester.
This dining room is dark but not at all brooding. It is close and comfy. And how about the Phillip Jeffries grasscloth on the ceiling!?
The kitchen was already light and bright before we got our hands on it. But we did rework the cabinet fronts (updated to a full overlay style), the copper lights, and the comfy barstools in a waxed linen fabric.
This family room is a fun take on geometrics and color! The clients owned the shaped lounge chair (a piece from her grandfather) and we updated it in this rich combo of fabrics. The art over the fireplace is the clients own by Houston based Allison Hunter (I am personally a BIG fan of hers!).
The master suite is a GEM. I love this room with its warm hues, stately leather bed, and the fun addition of the fabric on the nightstands and the leopard bench (yes, I also consider leopard a neutral). The lounge chairs are uber comfortable to boot!
White. Marble. Bathroom. That’s all.
