We Can’t Get Enough of This Wallpaper!

Wallpapers We Love at Laura U Interior Design

Over the years, wallpaper has received a reputation for being an archaic, out-of-style trend. But this couldn’t be further from the truth! At Laura U, wallpaper never went out of style. Custom-made, intricately detailed, or hand-painted wall coverings are the Classically Current solution for transforming a drab space, and are quite luxurious, especially when made from fine silk or satin. This week we break down our favorites.

Wallpapers We Love

We always aim to incorporate our clients’ individual tastes and experiences within our designs. Layered and interesting applications of wallpaper truly integrate a space, making it visually interesting and unique to every home.

We love Asian-inspired pieces here at Laura U. This Indo-Asian inspired high-rise features one of our favorite hand-painted wallpapers from Fromental. This stunning space was highlighted in Rue Magazine just last year, thanks in part to this one-of-a-kind wall covering.

Gorgeous silk wall coverings

This fun wallpaper from WORK + SEA is a great example of bringing new life into a small space. The color palette is warm and the design bold. It can make any bathroom or powder room look unique while adding a sense of avant-garde luxury.

This “rockface” design from Fromental brings in the serenity of the outdoors.  Influenced by the works of ancient Chinese artists and made of hand-dyed, lacquered paper, this stunning mountainscape looks great against warm metallics.

Keep florals alive year round with sophisticated wall coverings. The hints of violet from Phillip Jeffries’ “Bloom” wallpaper were used to create a stylish ceiling that compliments all the design elements in this elegant entryway pieced together by Jackson Paige. Dramatic floral prints envelop this super chic powder room designed by Ashley Stark and Sara Costello.

Here is a classic geometric pattern from Cole & Son that will grow with any child as they get older. Smaller patterns and varied textures add a playful statement to this interior by Leigh Dyer Design.

This eye-catching wallpaper from Schumacher 1889 is simply stunning and features a rich green, one of our High Point Market trends this year. Its leafy design encloses this powder room with comfortable lushness, which is one reason we love to work patterns into small spaces.

Create depth by varying the color of prints used in adjacent interiors. These striking Fornasettie Chiavu Segrete wall coverings from Cole & Son pair to provide dramatic contrast in this interior featured on social by Lee Jofa.

A minimalist wallpaper sets the stage for more intricate accessories like this stunning chandelier in the home of designers Bruce Glickman and Wilson Henley featured in Elle Decor. The design of this wallpaper accentuates the geometric architecture in the space without distracting from it.

Gracie Studio’s golden wall covering is a unique and unexpected touch to this glamorous kitchen design from Brooke Cole Interiors. Inventive placement draws the eye towards the center of the room. At Laura U, we absolutely love Gracie Studio. They are an incredible family-owned company, offering custom, hand-painted wallpapers in an array of materials and textures. Imagine your home covered in beautiful silk designs. So luxe!

Wallpaper Trends in the Studio with Tempaper

Self-adhesive and repositionable, Tempaper is a lovely way to customize a space. For our projects, we find that it is the perfect addition to small rooms and unexpected areas, like a pantry or ceiling where a splash of color or pattern works to accentuate neutral or minimalistic furnishings.

For homeowners in temporary spaces, whether for work or pleasure, it isn’t required to sacrifice high style for the latest trend. And for children, replacing a love for hot pink with animal print is simpler than ever. Tempaper can be used to give even the most overlooked areas a much-needed touch of glam (the back panel of a shelf, for example).

Check out this beautiful use of their Novogratz x Tempaper Constellations design. Isn’t it wonderful?! I knew I had to bring this wallpaper into the Laura U studio.

Our walls are covered in smooth, satin paint, which is perfect for Tempaper’s self-adhesive, removable wallpaper. Installation was a breeze, and after a couple passes with a squeegee to remove the air pockets, we were done in less than 30 minutes!

To compliment our freshly adhered wall covering, we added a pair of refurbished vintage chairs and a small floral arrangement. Now we have a transformed, luxurious space where we can sit down to record videos as we share design tips, inspiration and more. Ready to see the wallpaper in action?
