7 Ways to Combine Natural Stone and Wood from Aria Stone Gallery

In interior design projects, I tend to gravitate toward natural elements, like wood, glass and stone. But without question, marble is one of the most beautiful and breathtaking additions to any home. Whenever we need a gorgeous custom piece for a countertop or table, Aria Stone Gallery is our go-to. They helped us find the countertop we used in this stunning black and white powder room.

This week I’m excited to have Aria guest blogging for us. They’ll be sharing their top seven stone and marble interiors and three tips for pairing stone with natural elements like brick and wood.

Natural stone goes naturally in this lovely bath

This black, white and gold Zebrino marble makes the bathroom feel richer and more luxurious. It turns it into a place of grandeur and provides the perfect backdrop for this gorgeous soaker tub. It’s a visually heavy stone, but the natural light and horizontal veins make the space seem wider and more spacious. The dark wood cabinet complements the marble and helps frame the tub as the focal point of the bathroom. The result is absolutely stunning!

This gorgeous marble, which has tons of beautiful veins, creates a showstopping accent wall. The two pieces of marble seem to mirror each other, which creates a beautiful line of symmetry through the center of the room. The wood accented headboard and dark wood floors anchor the design and add warmth. It’s a sophisticated, glamorous bedroom that shows the true beauty of the Colosseo marble.

The blues, grays and touch of green in this Illusion quartzite countertop are the perfect match for the wood backsplash in this bathroom. The cool tones of the stone make it look a little like concrete, giving the space an industrial vibe. By pairing the quartzite with the wood, it adds a layer of richness and warmth to the space.

Tips for Pairing Natural Stone with Wood

Whether you use them in a high-rise city loft or a bohemian inspired home, stone and wood is a timeless combination. Here are three tips to help you select the perfect design elements to pair with your natural stone.

Tip #1: Create visual texture

Pairing organic elements with natural stone creates a comforting, tailored and cohesive design. The smooth surface of the stone provides an interesting contrast to the rough, organic surfaces of wood and brick. The combination creates a natural and luxurious look that add lots of gorgeous texture to the space.

Tip #2: Consider the veining

Another thing to consider is the color of the stone’s veins. Natural stones with lots of color and busy veining work best when paired with wood or brick accents in similar colors. These rich tones complement the stone without competing for your eye’s attention.

Tip #3: Add in smaller nature-inspired elements

Don’t be afraid to bring the outdoors in by incorporating smaller elements of nature into your space! Natural stone pairs beautifully with river rock wall mosaics and distressed wood finishes. Pebbles and indoor plants are fabulous accent pieces and help bring out the color in your natural stone.

Thank you, Aria for giving our readers a peek inside your stunning portfolio! From accent walls to countertops, you can use natural stone in an endless number of ways. Natural stone is a beautiful way to incorporate texture and organic patterns into your interiors.
