Mountain Lane Show House: A Guide to Modern Mountain Design

Laura's Great Room in Mountain Lane Show House.

Friends, it has been a long-time dream to move to Colorado, and when Michael and I made the decision to move mid-2020, it was so important for us to select the perfect home for our family. As many of you know, I am a renovation junkie – a good before-and-after really lights my creative fire. So, when I began my home search, I was looking for a major project. My real estate agent, Doug Leibinger, came to me with this home. Built in 1995, it had incredible views and a lot of open space. It also needed a good amount of TLC, and we purchased this home knowing it would need a complete overhaul to achieve all we wanted.

We’re a busy family. On the weekends, we love to be outdoors, from skiing to snowboarding to hiking. And during the week, Michael and I are running our businesses from home, which means we spend a lot of time in meetings and conference calls. It was essential to have spaces that embraced all we love to do together, while carving out those corners dedicated to work and solitude. With the help of my firm’s talented Creative Director, Gina Elkins, and some of the home industry’s top movers and shakers, we set out on a 10-month renovation to create my sanctuary in the mountains. In this resource guide, we detail the amazing partners who made this house, our home. Welcome to Mountain Lane!

For the Love of Home,

Presenting Partner: Monogram Appliances

One of our favorite partners in design, Monogram is no stranger to the show house experience. In 2018 they were instrumental in helping us open our first show house in Houston, Boulevard. Monogram sources the highest quality materials for their appliances, from commercial-grade stainless steel to the unscratchable sapphire glass of their cooktops. Their designs incorporate leading-edge materials that ensure lasting beauty and quality for your luxury kitchen.

For MLSH, Laura selected their beautiful Statement Collection which has subtle brass accents and a timeless aesthetic, all while keeping some of our favorite kitchen design features. In Laura’s home you will find Monogram’s 48″ custom brass hood, the duel-fuel professional range, the Smart Five in One wall oven, the smart fully integrated dishwasher, smart integrated column refrigerator and freezer, their double-drawer refrigerator for the beverage center, and Laura’s favorite – the 30″ fully integrated wine refrigerator.

Cosentino

Cosentino was an obvious choice when Laura was looking for a hard surfaces partner. Not only does our team select Cosentino brands for the homes we design, but Laura is a huge fan of their technologically advanced surfaces that are innovative, sustainable, and of course beautiful! There are many different brands under the Cosentino Group, including Silestone and Dekton which were used throughout the MLSH. Ethereal Haze, a white canvas with subtle gray gradients, was used in Laura’s kitchen and butler’s pantry and is the perfect solution for her kitchen countertops and backsplash. Cosentino’s Dekton Kelya was selected for the hearth in the great room. This black marble with soft veins creates a handsome show-stopping moment.

Kohler is one of our go-to brands for plumbing fixtures. They offer innovative, high-quality, and classic looks for bathrooms and kitchens. Because bathrooms and kitchens are high-traffic areas, investing in quality ensures you will have beautiful fixtures for years to come. For the MLSH, Laura also selected KALLISTA products, which is Kohler’s sister-brand offering premium bath and kitchen solutions that are artfully crafted.

Paragon Systems Integration

Seamless audiovisual technology is intricate in any home design, and is more important than ever in our tech-forward world. Paragon Systems Integration was the perfect partner for MLSH, with world-class service and design-minded AV integration.

Due to the location of the MLSH and the HOA regulations, no recessed lighting could be used in the home. Paragon worked with Laura on an innovative ambient lighting solution. In addition, all the AV functions are voice activated. Laura’s favorite function is telling the smart hub it’s “wine time,” which lowers the lights and turns on music for a relaxing après ski atmosphere.

To create contrast, Laura selected SW 7634 Pediment for the kitchen and great room. In the guest room, we were thrilled to showcase the 2022 Sherwin-Williams color of the year, SW 9130 Evergreen Fog. When selecting our hardware partner, we knew Emtek’s wide-range of products would allow for the perfect balance of statement and subtle options. Door hardware is an integral part of a room’s design theme and is an extension to your personal style. For the show house, Laura went with a modern door lever in a flat black finish for a clean minimalist design. In the primary bathroom, the Urban Modern Cinder knob in the brass finish adds a touch of glam to the vanity cabinets.

In the mudroom, we opted for the horizontal Cusco Stripe fabric in Black from Kufri to create the illusion of a wider window. Horizontal stripes are especially stunning in a flat fold Roman shade because the folds line up beautifully with the stripes.
